Dental SOS: What to Do in a Dental Emergency

Dental emergencies can be as sudden and shocking as a big wave, but don’t worry—we’ve got you covered! Here’s what you can do when disaster strikes:

1. Cracked or Broken Tooth

If your tooth cracks or breaks, rinse your mouth with warm water to clean it. If there’s swelling, apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek. Don’t try to fix it yourself—call us right away for a professional evaluation!

2. Severe Toothache

To relieve pain, rinse with warm saltwater and apply a cold compress. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help, but remember, the pain might signal a deeper issue. Call us to get to the root of the problem!

3. Knocked-Out Tooth

If a tooth is knocked out, hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently, and try to place it back into the socket. If that’s not possible, keep it moist in milk or a saline solution. The sooner you see us, the better the chance of saving your tooth!

4. Object Stuck Between Teeth

If something gets stuck between your teeth, gently floss to remove it. If you can’t remove it, avoid poking it with sharp objects—call us, and we’ll safely take care of it.

5. Lost Filling or Crown

If a filling or crown falls out, place it in a safe spot. You can use temporary dental cement or sugarless gum to cover the exposed area, but don’t delay—give us a call to restore it properly.

Remember, when it comes to dental emergencies, quick action is key. Don’t hesitate to call us at Aloha Dental to ensure you get the best care as soon as possible. We’re here to help keep your smile shining bright!
